Part 1B

Why I chose this picture was because when the Great Depression occured, many people lost jobs. This ment they didn't have enough money for food, clothes, etc.. so they would have to grow they things. In this picture, two people are picking cotton. If the people didn't have any money, then they all couldn't afford clothes, so they would have to grow and pick cotton and make it on their own.

Part 2A

8c52062r.jpg
In this picture I see a building. There are a few men sitting on the porch of it. What I noticed first were three men sittin on the porch. Some other details I can see it the tree behind the building. I also see some of the different signs that are on the building.I think this image was made to show people how different things were made back then. To me, this looks like it was made out of wood. Now, if someone were to remake it they would use metal or bricks, something more sterdier. To me, this picture looks like it was made in the 1800's.I wonder who those men are in the picture. I also wonder what they are doing? Lastly I wonder when exactly this picture was.
hoeing.jpg
In this picture, a women and a men are hoeing/farming. I noticed that a man was also doing it. I would think only women would be doing that kind of work. The physical setting is the sky, and a different types of plants.I also see trees in the background. In this picture I think more people should be in it. It would be more realistic. I can learn from examining this image is that people had to get their own food and make it themselves. In this image two people are farming. In this picture there is a women and a man. What their doing is farming. I wonder where they are farming, but i am guessing that it could be on their farm.
dirty people.jpg

In this image I see four people. Probably young children standing on a shack or a farm house. I notice that there is a bucket and the children's feet are all white because of the dirt and mess they have to deal with. I notice that there clothes don't look too clean from what we would wear today. They have clothes in them and stains. It doesn't look like they have good shoes that will support there feet. The physical setting in this picture is old. The house looks like it was built by wooden planks and just thrown together. I think this image was made to see what life would be like now. Life today, we would rarely see this type of house or shack. Houses today have foundation and they are clean. The audience in this image was probably the children that live in the small house. It must be difficult moving around and trying to get clean with four or more people in such a small house. However, at least people have a roof over there head because it could be worse. I don't think anything in this picture would be the same today. Today, we would see clean kids and clothes that are in good shape. Also, houses today do not have wooden planks like that. I think someone who took this picture, took it because it shows how life was for the children and how they have to live with having clothes and stains and probably wearing the same clothes everyday. I wonder what it would be like not to shower everyday or put on new clothes. Or even wear socks, it looks like they have poor shoes and there feet do not look to good. This picture was probably taken around the afternoon, it looks like it would be a farm house because they have a bucket. However, I think life back then was really tough.

Part 2B

Negro drinking at "Colored" water cooler in streetcar terminal, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Negro drinking at "Colored" water cooler in streetcar terminal, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

In this picture is a black male. He is drinking water. What I notied first was the signs that says "white men, colored men". The people shown is the black man and the objects are the cups to drink water, and the water jug, I can learn that discrimination isnt a problem at the time. I think a white man is missing from this picture to show that the signs are true.A black man is getting a drink from a water jug. I wonder when this picture is taken. I wonder where this picture is. Lastly, i wonder who this person is.

In this picture, is a big dr.pepper sign. There is also a man walking up stairs. The first thing i noticed was the soda sign and the man. Some other details i can see is a lader, a few pictures, doors, and some signs. I also noticed that the man is going into a colored adm. Whats happening in the picture is there is a black male walking up some stairs to a colored movie hosue.I think what is missing from this picture is that the should of put one or two other men with him. I think this image was made a while ago. Maybe before Martin Luther King made his speech about raceism. I wonder where this image was taken. Who is this person going into the theater? Lastly, i wonder how it was back in the days when raceism was a big deal.
A cafe near the tobacco market, Durham, North Carolina
A cafe near the tobacco market, Durham, North Carolina

In this picture there is a girl standing in the store window. She could be cleaning or advertising something. What i noticed first were the old cars. I also noticed that that store was ,what we call now, a grocery store. Some words i see are colored, white, farmers cafe, quick lunch, and prices. Why i think this image was made is to show that there is raceism in this picture. On one side of the store, it has a door for whites, and the other has a door for colored people. What i can learn from examining this image is that back then people took raceism very seriously. If someone made this image today, it would probably be in color, the cars would be newer, and there would only be one entrance, fotr whites and colored people. I wonder how so many people delt with discrimination. I also wonder who was effected by this more; colored people or the whites? I also wonder where this image was taken.
